New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District celebrated student achievement, welcomed new staff members and honored a retiree during the board of education meeting on May 11.
Manor Oaks Schoolsecond grader Sukhleen Kaur was recognized for having her artwork selected for the Shanti Fund Peace Artwork Calendar. She was honored at a Shanti Fund luncheon and awarded $151. The organization promotes a culture of peace through community initiatives and educational programs.

The district also formally welcomed seven new staff members: Gabriella Bianchino, Micayla Brady, Bernadette Calandrillo, Megan Doyle-Conlon, Brian Koster, Larissa Mistretta and Leighann Perciballi.
In addition, the district recognized the retirement of teacher aide Joanne Bartoloni and thanked her for her dedicated service to the school community.
