Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Laura Maier and the Town Board announced that registration for the Town’s Youth Basketball Program will open on May 18, offering local students in grades 3 through 8 the opportunity to compete in a structured summer league.
The program will feature eight games played across four town locations: Anchor Park, Haypath Park, Plainview-Old Bethpage Park, and Syosset Woodbury Community Park. The season is scheduled to begin June 15, with player evaluations set for June 5 and 6 at Haypath Park.
“I’m thrilled to see our young athletes take to the basketball court this summer,” Councilwoman Maier said. “This program offers a platform for our youth to hone their basketball skills, showcase their talents, and experience the adrenaline rush of competition – all in a supportive environment. Be sure to register now, as this program is sure to fill up quickly.”
Evaluation sessions will be organized by grade level, with Grades 3–4 at 5 p.m., Grades 5–6 at 6 p.m., and Grades 7–8 at 7 p.m. A second round of player assessments is also scheduled for June 7 and 8 at Haypath Park. According to town officials, the evaluations will help coaches form balanced teams and promote skill development through competitive play.
Registration will open online at www.oysterbaytown.com/sports beginning Monday, May 18 at 9 a.m. The resident fee is $85, while non-residents will pay $100. Participants must submit proof of residency, such as a tax or utility bill, along with a birth certificate during registration.
