Bethpage High School senior Jessica Wojnicki earned a first-place award from the New York State Science Honor Society, along with an accompanying scholarship.
Wojnicki was recognized for her exemplary academic performance in the sciences, as well as for her service, leadership and commitment to promoting STEM to younger students.
The New York State Science Honor Society, managed by the Science Teachers Association of New York State, recognizes high school students who demonstrate excellence in science, community service and strong character.
Founded in 1991, the society requires members to maintain high science-specific GPAs and complete science-related service hours, such as tutoring or environmental initiatives.
