In a brazen ambush at the Bellevue Transit Center, a 38-year-old man allegedly lured police officers with a fake 911 call before attacking them with a knife, leading to a shooting that left both an officer and the suspect injured. The incident unfolded on December 12, 2025, at approximately 12:24 p.m. at 10850 NE 6th Street in Bellevue, Washington.

Bellevue Police officers Sean Winebrenner and Guilherme Spagnolo responded to the emergency call reporting a verbal argument between a male and female. The caller, later identified as Mohamed Morray Bangura, provided limited details and refused to identify himself fully during the call.

Upon arrival, the officers contacted Bangura, who referenced a prior interaction with another officer, stating, "Officer Grogan tried to put a false case on me." He did not elaborate on the reported argument, offering no further information about any dispute.

The situation escalated rapidly when Bangura pulled a knife from his jacket pocket and lunged at Officer Spagnolo, who managed to evade the strike. Bangura then turned to Officer Winebrenner, slashing his face and causing a significant laceration. As the officer fell, Bangura stabbed him twice in the back and shoulder area.

Officer Spagnolo responded by firing six rounds from his service weapon, striking Bangura three times—in the right arm, left leg, and left flank. Arriving officers immediately provided aid to both the wounded Officer Winebrenner and Bangura at the scene.

Both individuals were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Officer Winebrenner, 29, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including a facial laceration, dislocated shoulder, and broken clavicle. He was reported to be in satisfactory condition.

Bangura was initially listed in critical/serious condition following the shooting but ultimately survived his injuries. The incident has been categorized under crime and lawlessness, with police shooting as a key tag, highlighting the dangers officers face in responding to calls.
