In a flurry of activity that has intensified the search for missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, investigators from the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a court-ordered search warrant at a residence near her Arizona home on Friday night, as the case enters its third week with no arrests made.

Authorities sealed off a road roughly 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) from Guthrie's home with a roadblock, towed a Range Rover SUV discovered in a restaurant parking lot, and conducted a traffic stop. Although no arrests resulted from Friday's efforts, a person of interest was detained for questioning but later released, according to Local 10 reports.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing by her family on February 1, 2026. She was last seen at her home on the night of January 31. Since then, the Pima County Sheriff's Department has led the investigation into her unexplained disappearance.

Complicating the case, alleged ransom notes were sent to American media outlets. The FBI confirmed it is investigating these notes, though no communication has been established between the Guthrie family and any alleged perpetrators.

The FBI has now announced a $100,000 (£73,000) reward for information that could aid the case. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed the ongoing efforts as the search hits the three-week mark, stating, "Every day moving forward, there will be a lot of police activity throughout the community. As to what level of activity that is depends on what lead they chase and how it develops."

Nanos further explained the process, saying, "These leads start in the command post and move to the field as needed. That is one reason you're seeing activity build up as the day goes on that can ultimately lead to a search warrant looking for Nancy and any suspect involved." On February 13, he told Time that Arizona authorities will not halt the search for Guthrie, though it may require additional time.
