Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has dismissed social media speculation linking him to a character in the film Dhurandhar with a light-hearted quip, saying he has been told he makes a cameo appearance in the movie. The buzz originated from online posts drawing parallels between a subplot involving a corrupt minister and his son colluding with Pakistan's ISI and the Chidambaram family, despite no names being mentioned in the film directed by Aditya Dhar.

Speaking on the ANI Podcast hosted by Smita Prakash, the Sivaganga MP was asked if he had watched Dhurandhar. "No, I haven't. But, I have been told that I have a cameo there," Chidambaram replied. He added humorously, "I have been told that it is a three-hour-long movie, maybe I will watch it on multiple flights."

Chidambaram took the opportunity to jest further about potential casting choices. "I hope the producer had called me and asked me who they should cast as my cameo. Pierce Brosnan," he quipped, before suggesting Michael Caine for the role of his father, former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The MP questioned the credibility of the unverified online claims, asking, "If people can mix up facts, fiction and WhatsApp forwards, what can I do?" He emphasized the lack of official evidence, stating, "If you really think that happened, don't you think the government of India should have some records. The government of India doesn't have records."

Chidambaram lamented the spread of misinformation in the digital age, saying, "Does anyone even understand it? It's unfortunate, I mean thanks to WhatsApp and Mark Zuckerberg, people can't sift through facts and fiction and everything emerges in this 'maya' world and with AI its only going to get worse."

Social media platforms were flooded with posts making the connection between the film's characters and the Chidambaram duo, fueling the controversy. However, the makers of Dhurandhar have not directly addressed the online speculation surrounding the subplot.
