Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Thursday (May 14) announced a 2 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance for state government employees and teachers, raising it from 58 per cent to 60 per cent effective from January 1, 2026.

According to the Department of Information and Public Relations, the revised DA will benefit nearly 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners across the state.

The government said the move will result in an additional annual expenditure of around Rs 1,230 crore, and assured that necessary funds will be allocated to support employee welfare and pension commitments.
