Mumbai police have arrested six more individuals from Rajasthan in connection with the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence, bringing the total number of arrests to 11. The suspects are currently being transported to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further interrogation, as reported by ANI. The development comes amid ongoing threats linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang, which claimed responsibility for the attack via a Facebook post.
The incident occurred on January 31, when unknown assailants fired four rounds of bullets outside Shetty's home in the evening. No injuries were reported, but police swiftly arrived at the scene, registered a case of attempted murder, and seized ballistics evidence. Heavy police security was immediately deployed around the residential tower to ensure safety.
Initial arrests included five individuals from Pune suspected to be linked to the Bishnoi network. On February 1, Mumbai police detained Aman Anand Marote (27), Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki (19), Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20), Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18), and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23), who are believed to have been involved in the firing.
Investigators revealed that Asaram Fasle, a garage mechanic who had been working with the Bishnoi gang for four years, supplied the weapons. Fasle, influenced by Shubham Lonkar—the alleged mastermind of the Baba Siddiqui murder case—handed over the arms to Swapnil Sakat on Lonkar's instructions. The weapons were then passed to an unidentified shooter who carried out the attack.
The case has broader implications, with recent threats targeting other Bollywood figures. Ranveer Singh, who collaborated with Rohit Shetty on the film Simmba, received a WhatsApp voice note demanding Rs 10 crore ransom. Similarly, Salman Khan's brother-in-law and actor Ayush Sharma got a threat email via Proton Mail from a sender allegedly connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
On February 14, Mumbai Police recorded statements from the managers of both Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh as part of the probe. Crime Branch teams also recreated the firing sequence at Shetty's residence, retracing the accused's scooter route from Pune to Mumbai to piece together the sequence of events.
