Former West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee arrived at the Calcutta High Court dressed in an advocate’s gown to appear in a post-poll violence matter on Thursday (May 14). Accompanied by Kalyan Banerjee, the TMC supremo is set to argue before the Chief Justice’s courtroom.

The petition was filed by Sirshanya Banerjee, son of Kalyan Banerjee, alleging that several TMC workers and party offices were attacked following the election results amid post-poll violence in West Bengal.

Speaking before the court, she said, "We want the protection of people of Bengal. Police should take FIR action. I don’t want to take any name, you can guess him. Please protect the lives of people. Please pass an interim order so that police can behave properly."
