Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Ajinkya Rahane's Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets in match 57 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026), which was being played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, on Wednesday. The victory was capped by the historic century fromVirat Kohli. This was his 9th ton in the cash-rich league. This was also his 10th T20 century, making him the first Indian player to reach the milestone.
RCB gained momentum by registering their second straight win, but also ended KKR's four-match winning streak with this win in a match that got off to a delayed start due to rain. The defending champions have reclaimed their spot at the top of the points table with 16 points in 12 matches.
GT also have 16 points, but they are edged by RCB in terms of NRR. Meanwhile, SRH and PBKS continue to be the 3rd and 4th teams in the points table with 14 and 13 points, respectively. This loss has heavily affected the Knights' hopes to miraculously make it into the playoffs, as they can only get to a maximum of 15 points now, and that can not guarantee them a spot in the points table
CSK, RR, and DC are the other teams trying to make it into the final four by putting on their best performance in the remaining matches, but the outcome for them will also be dependent on the results of other teams
Royal Challengers Bengaluru returned to the top of the IPL 2026 standings with a rain-delayed victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. Virat Kohli's unbeaten 105 runs helped them chase down 193 with 5 balls and 6 wickets remaining.
KKR lost openers Finn Allen (18 off 8) to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and captain Ajinkya Rahane (19 off 13) to Josh Hazlewood as they batted first after RCB captain Patidar decided to field. After that, Cameron Green and Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed 68 for the third wicket, with Raghuvanshi scoring a smooth half-century. Rinku Singh came to the crease after Green, who had struck 32 off 24, was removed by Rashik Salam. KKR concluded at 192 in 20 overs, with Rinku remaining not out at 49 off 29 and Raghuvanshi being run out off the last ball for 71.
Jacob Bethell, who reached 15 off 12 before being caught and bowled by Kartik Tyagi, started the chase with Virat Kohli. After two consecutive ducks, Kohli struck an aggressive half-century to put RCB over 100 at the halfway point of the innings, which Devdutt Padikkal helped stabilise. After the planned break, Tyagi hit Patidar in the helmet with a bouncer and dismissed Padikkal for 39 off 27. However, the skipper of the RCB scored 11 before falling to Sunil Narine.
Tim David was sent back for two by a superb catch by Manish Pandey, but Kohli continued to reach his ninth IPL century. He led RCB to victory in 19.1 overs, finishing unbeaten at 105 off 60 balls.
