N.Y. Sen. Dean Murray honored Blue Point resident Jennifer McNamara as this year’s Woman of Distinction for the 3rd Senate District at the NYS Senate Women of Distinction Celebration. This annual event, hosted in Albany, allowed Murray to recognize her extraordinary leadership, resilience, and dedication to serving others both professionally and throughout the community.
Following the tragic loss of her husband, FDNY firefighter John “Johnny Mac” McNamara, from a 9/11-related cancer, Jennifer transformed pain into purpose and made a personal tragedy into a lasting mission of compassion and service.
Through the Johnny Mac Foundation, established in her husband’s honor, she has helped provide countless acts of kindness and support to individuals and families facing difficult times, continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
In addition to her charitable work, Jennifer has built an accomplished career as an attorney and currently serves as Suffolk County’s director of Labor Relations in the County Executive’s Office. Her professionalism, leadership, and commitment to public service have earned her widespread respect throughout the community, Murray’s office said.
“Jennifer McNamara embodies strength, compassion, and selfless service. Her dedication to helping others, honoring her husband’s legacy, and serving the people of Suffolk County makes her truly deserving of this recognition,” said Murray.
The Woman of Distinction honor celebrates women who have made exceptional contributions to their communities through leadership, volunteerism, and professional achievement.
