The Nvidia CEO, not included in the White House’s original delegation list, will be in Beijing with the US president, the company has confirmed
“Jensen is attending the summit at the invitation of President Trump to support America and the administration’s goals,” an Nvidia representative told the South China Morning Post in an email.
Seventeen American CEOs were on the original list of business delegates released by the White House on Monday – a smaller group than Trump’s previous China trip in 2017, when 27 high-profile executives joined.
Huang was not included on Monday’s list, which fuelled speculation Washington had little appetite to roll back some of its tech export controls. In an interview last week, the Nvidia CEO said he would have joined the trip “if invited”.
Dina Powell McCormick, president and vice-chair of Meta Platforms, Illumina CEO Jacob Thaysen and Coherent CEO Jim Anderson were also on the list. Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins was invited, a Cisco spokesperson said, but would be unable to attend as the company’s earnings were released this week.
