Senator Katie Britt of Alabama sharply criticized Democratic senators on Fox News Sunday for traveling to Munich, Germany, amid a partial government shutdown that has left critical services in limbo. Britt accused the Democrats of hypocrisy, prioritizing a European trip over negotiations to resolve the impasse affecting federal workers.

"It's kind of rich," Britt said, highlighting what she described as Democrats abandoning their responsibilities while Americans bear the brunt of the shutdown. She pointed out that the lawmakers' decision comes as they refuse to engage in good-faith negotiations to reopen the government.

The partial shutdown has created uncertainty for hardworking TSA agents, FEMA personnel, and Coast Guard members, according to Britt. She argued that these essential workers are facing instability because Democrats have failed to come to the negotiating table with serious solutions.

Instead of addressing the crisis, Britt said, Democratic senators have chosen to "jet off to Munich," leaving Americans to deal with the consequences. She placed the blame squarely on the Democrats for not rolling up their sleeves to govern effectively.

Britt contrasted the Democrats' actions with those of President Trump and his administration, which she said are working tirelessly on an America First agenda. She accused the Democrats of putting Europe first, choosing "Munich over Missouri, Bavaria over Birmingham."

The remarks position Britt as a rising voice in Alabama politics, especially as fellow Senator Tommy Tuberville is favored to win the state's gubernatorial race. Britt appears ready to assume a more prominent role as Alabama's senior senator, taking the fight to what she called the "do-nothing Democrats."
