The East Williston Village Board announced homeowners could see a decrease in their homeowners’ insurance during its Monday, May 11, meeting. The board also announced the kickoff of events like the exotic car show, the annual Memorial Day 5K run and the village’s 2026 summer concert series.

Members of the board read reports on the village and unveiled two books crafted by the village’s history committee, “East Williston Centennial Coloring Book,” and “Pride of Place: 100 Years of Incorporation in East Williston, New York,” which are on sale now on Amazon.

Parente suggested that residents reach out to their insurance providers and recommended they review their policies.

The village’s summer events will kick off with the first concert of its summer series on May 15. Concerts will continue throughout the season, with Pat Farrell and the Cold Spring Harbor Duo on June 26, the Time Passages band on July 10 and Bang Zoom! on July 24.

The exotic car show will be held at 11 a.m. on May 16 at 456 Sagamore Ave. with food, music and prizes at 1 p.m. Cars should arrive between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and drivers should bring $20 to enter a car and $10 to display a car.

The village will also be hosting its annual 5K run, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Devlin Field and at 9:15 a.m. for kids under 6 years old. Prizes will be awarded to the three finalists and T-shirts will be handed out to the first 75 participants.

Finalists will be determined by best male and female runners in separate age categories as well as the three best walkers who are 19 and older.

After the race, families are encouraged to attend the Anything on Wheels Parade, where children and adults will be able to decorate anything on wheels, from scooters to bikes. Following the decorating, the village will walk in its annual Memorial Day parade.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will continue on the Village Green at 12 p.m. and will honor East Williston’s veterans and all who served.
