An Australian influencer and self-described performance artist, Drew Pavlou, claims that singer Billie Eilish is responsible for his deportation from the United States following a provocative social media stunt mocking her recent Grammy Awards speech. Pavlou alleges that Eilish's legal team contacted the Department of Homeland Security, leading to his detention at Los Angeles International Airport.
Pavlou detailed his ordeal in posts on X, stating, “Billie Eilish got me deported from the US — I think her legal team contacted DHS.” He described spending 30 hours at LAX immigration, where he attempted to clarify that his online posts were satirical. “I spent 30 hours at LAX immigration trying to explain that my shit posts were just a joke and that I didn’t actually plan to personally move into her mansion,” he wrote.
The incident originated from Pavlou's attempt to crowdfund an effort to move into Eilish's $3 million Los Angeles mansion. In a post, he announced, “Exciting news: I’ve decided to move into Billie Eilish’s $6 million Malibu beachfront mansion because no human being is illegal on stolen land. Thank you Billie for your generosity,” accompanied by an image.
Pavlou's stunt was a direct response to Eilish’s polarizing acceptance speech at the Grammys, where the 24-year-old “Wildflower” singer declared “no one is illegal on stolen land” and said “f**k ICE” on live television while accepting Song of the Year.
Reflecting on his detention, Pavlou noted on X that most immigration agents were understanding. “Honestly most of the agents were nice and laughed at the idea but there was nothing I could do, maybe evil leftists are still in charge of sections of the bureaucracy. I guess some people are in fact actually illegal on stolen land. And I guess I am just a BAD GUY,” he posted, referencing one of Eilish’s hits.
The California Post reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for verification but has not received a response. Attempts to contact Eilish’s representatives were also unsuccessful.
