Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty sharply criticized Democrats for opposing voter ID laws during an appearance on Fox Business' "Sunday Morning Futures," linking their stance to the Biden administration's immigration policies and suggesting a deliberate strategy to influence elections.

Hagerty stated, "It's no coincidence that the same party that opened our borders to millions of illegal aliens is the same party desperately fighting against voter ID requirements. They know exactly what they're doing."

Polls indicate that roughly 80% of Americans, including a majority of Democrats, support requiring photo ID to vote, a measure Hagerty described as basic common sense.

He pointed out everyday requirements for identification, noting that people need an ID to buy beer, board a plane, or enter a government building, yet Democrats view it as voter suppression when applied to voting.

Hagerty connected the opposition to the influx of millions of illegal aliens across U.S. borders during the Biden administration, contrasting it with efforts under the Trump-Vance administration to address the immigration situation.

His remarks coincide with Republican efforts to advance the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and mandate voter ID for federal elections.

Democrats have resisted the legislation, which Hagerty and supporters argue is essential for securing elections amid concerns over voter eligibility.
