The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) clash in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash created history as a unique feat was observed in the fixture, which was played on Monday (May 11) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel's unique tactical calls mirroring each other led to a bizarre feat that has not happened in the league since the inaugural season in 2008.
After Axar won the toss and chose to bowl, the Capitals named a playing XI in which both Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam were dropped. This left the DC skipper as their only spin bowling option. Axar did not call on himself, which led to the Capitals not bowling any spin in their 20 overs. On the other hand, PBKS had the league's highest wicket-taker in history in Yuzvendra Chahal in their ranks. However, Shreyas did not throw the ball his way, as the visitors won the match with one over to spare as PBKS lost their fourth match in a row.
This meant that throughout the 39 overs that were bowled in the match, there was not a single over of spin used by either team.
This match marked the first game in 18 years in the IPL that was not rain-affected, but not a single ball of spin was bowled in either innings. Previously, there had been only two such games in the league, which both happened in the first IPL match of the season.

Talking about the match, the Capitals won the match by three wickets with six balls to spare. Punjab missed the chance to reclaim top spot on the table while the Delhi-based team kept their hopes alive.
