Punjab Kings (PBKS) ruled the roost in the first half of IPL 2026 and they were the top-placed team for many weeks in the points table. PBKS were undefeated in their first seven games and dominated their opponents. After kicking of their season with back-to-back wins against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), PBKS were awarded one points for the washed-out game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Shreyas Iyer-led side continued its domination and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in its next four games to retain the top spot.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) stopped the PBKS juggernaut and handed them their first defeat of the season. PBKS are yet to win a game since then. Once sitting in the top spot, PBKS are now in the fourth position. However, they are still in the race to finish in the top two and can reclaim the spot when they face DC on Monday (May 11). Here we see how PBKS can become the top-placed team again -
PBKS have registered six wins in their 10 matches. With 13 points at an NRR of +0.571, PBKS sit in the fourth spot in the IPL 2026 table. Top-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have 14 points. Second-placed SRH and third-placed GT also have 14 points each.

A win over DC will see PBKS become the first team to get to 15 points. This also means that they will displaceRCBto become the top-placed team in the IPL 2026 points table.
RCB moved to the top following their win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday (May 10). But they will lose their position if PBKS defeat DC. Two more wins will guarantee PBKS a spot in the next round.
Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants crashed out of IPL 2026 following their defeats on Sunday. Both teams have managed 3 wins in 11 matches. MI sit in the ninth position and are followed by LSG.
