American luger Sophia Kirby arrived at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy with a dual mission: to compete at the highest level and to find romance. Declaring herself the "Athlete Village's Most Eligible Bachelorette," the Team USA athlete quickly made waves by shooting her shot with snowboarder Jake Pates and jumping on Tinder, amassing more than 2,000 direct messages from admirers.

Kirby, who finished fifth in both the Women's Doubles Luge alongside partner Chevonne Forgan and the Mixed Team Relay, is now capitalizing on her extended stay in the Olympic Village. While many of her competitors departed after their events, Team USA's policy allows athletes like Kirby to remain for the duration, turning her post-competition time into what she calls "vacation time."

"I’m fortunate that I’m one of the countries that gets to stay in the Olympic Village," Kirby told the New York Post during one of four dates she had lined up as of Friday. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting, "The majority of my competitors I saw leave today, but fortunately for me, Team USA is one of the few countries that pays a premium for us to be here the entire time."

With her competitive obligations complete, Kirby is embracing the lighter side of the Olympics. "So I’m just gonna have fun. It’s my vacation time," she added, highlighting her intention to enjoy the village atmosphere and her newfound social calendar amid the influx of DMs.

Now, as the village buzzes with athletes from around the world, Kirby's bold approach to balancing sport and single life has positioned her as a standout story from Team USA.

Kirby's openness about her Olympic Village escapades underscores a lighter, more personal side of the high-stakes Winter Games, where elite athletes like her find moments of levity after intense competition. Her fifth-place finishes in both events mark solid performances, but it's her post-race pursuits that are generating the most attention.
