Donald Trump has slammed Iran's response to the latest ceasefire proposal as "totally unacceptable" in a fiery social media post. The US President took to his platform Truth Social to call out the reaction from "Iran's so-called representatives" following the latest efforts in the protracted peace process.

He wrote: "I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called “Representatives.” I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP." Iranian state media responded, with a source telling Tasnim news agency that Tehran wants "an immediate end to the war".

They said Iran's plan for peace focuses on the US lifting sanctions on the country and promising no more aggression in the future.

Tehran also wants to regain full control of the Strait of Hormuz, "provided certain commitments are carried out through the United States", the news agency reported.
