Senator Bernie Moreno was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo to discuss the threat of Chinese electric vehicles. He explained that they should not be allowed in the US market because of their ties to the CCP.

“Tell us about your bill and what we need to understand about Chinese vehicles in America,” Bartiromo asked.

“The bill is inspired by President Trump. Nobody has been a better friend to the US auto industry than President Trump. He’s the first person 11 years ago that called out the Chinese threat to the US,” Moreno said.

“The American middle class was predominantly built by the auto industry. It’s about 10 percent of our GDP. So, for us to allow Chinese cars that are massively subsidized by the Communist party, to come in and destroy our auto industry, destroy our auto workers is something we would not even remotely consider. So, this bill makes that impossible,” Moreno explained.

“These cars have lots of cameras. They send back data to the Communist Party and can be remotely controlled by the Communist Party,” Moreno warned.

“So, whatever is on those cameras is sent back to the CCP?” Bartiromo asked.

“Ya, absolutely. So, you can imagine somebody working at an Air Force base. They drive in, these things are surveilling the Air Force base. They also know who is driving the vehicle, their habits, where they go, where they come from,” Moreno warned.

“We would never allow Americans to purchase surveillance devices for the Communist Party of China and that’s exactly what these automobiles are. So, our bill insists that that not happen,” Moreno said.

“These cars about 20 to 30 percent cheaper than most car because they are massively subsidized. These are basically little Trojan horses that they are throwing all over the globe,” Moreno warned.

“What do you mean in terms of the CCP controlling those cars?” Bartiromo asked.
