In a eyebrow-raising disclosure that spans decades and diverse spheres of influence, Monica Lewinsky, Margaret Thatcher, Elvis Presley, Cher, Bill Cosby, and even the Pope have been linked by their appearance on an official Department of Justice list of government officials and politically exposed persons named in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche released a statement overnight, providing transparency by including a comprehensive list of all such individuals referenced in the Epstein documents. This move comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the files related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The Department of Justice has sent a letter to Congress explaining the redactions made to the Epstein files. This six-page document also enumerates every "government official and politically exposed person" identified within the materials.

The letter clarifies the scope: "The term 'politically exposed persons' was not defined in the Act, but consistent with Section 3 of the Act, Department reviewers were directed to notate 'all government officials and politically exposed persons named or referenced' in any document, including videos and images, reviewed during this process."

The list encompasses individuals who are or were government officials or politically exposed persons, provided their name appears at least once in the files released under the Act. This criterion ensures a broad capture of mentions, regardless of context.

Names surface in the files across a spectrum of situations. As noted in the statement, "some individuals had extensive direct email contact with Epstein or Maxwell while other individuals are mentioned only in a portion of a document (including press reporting) that on its face is unrelated to the Epstein and Maxwell matters."

While previous unofficial lists have circulated, this represents the official DoJ compilation of those named or referenced in the Epstein files, highlighting the varied ways prominent figures intersected with the documents.
