Bengaluru police recovered two gelatin sticks from the side of a footpath near Tataguni in Bengaluru ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Art of Living Centre on Sunday. According to police, the suspicious materials were found during a security checking and area domination exercise conducted before the Prime Minister’s arrival.
Officials said the gelatin sticks were found near a compound wall beside a bridge on the Kanakapura Road highway stretch, around three kilometres away from the Art of Living Centre and nearly one kilometre from NICE Road.
Police suspect that an unidentified person may have thrown the gelatin sticks at the spot. Authorities immediately seized the explosive materials and launched an investigation to identify who left them there.
Police said search operations and further inquiries are continuing in the area. Officials added that the gelatin sticks were detected before the Prime Minister reached the venue.
There is also suspicion that some individuals opposed to the Art of Living Foundation may have placed the materials there, though police have not officially confirmed any motive so far.
