Australian political activist Drew Pavlou was deported from the United States after immigration officials at Los Angeles International Airport interrogated him for hours over social media posts joking about moving into pop star Billie Eilish's Malibu mansion, the activist claims.

Pavlou, known for his confrontational campaigns and social-media provocations, insists the posts were satirical commentary on Eilish's recent criticism of U.S. immigration policies. The incident unfolded against the backdrop of a heated public debate sparked by the singer's remarks at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

During her acceptance speech at the Grammys, Billie Eilish condemned U.S. immigration enforcement, stating, "no one is illegal on stolen land," and urged audiences to continue protesting federal policies. The comment drew widespread attention and backlash, setting the stage for Pavlou's online response.

Within days of Eilish's speech, Pavlou took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce his stunt. In one post, he wrote: "Exciting news: I’ve decided to move into Billie Eilish’s $6 million Malibu beachfront mansion because no human being is illegal on stolen land. Thank you Billie for your generosity," accompanied by an image.

Pavlou framed the announcement as a political critique of celebrity activism, targeting Eilish's reported £4.4 million ($6 million) beachfront property in Malibu. He alleges that U.S. authorities flagged these posts upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport, leading to prolonged questioning.

After hours of interrogation, immigration officials denied Pavlou entry and deported him, according to his account. The activist maintains that his "sh*tposting" was clearly meant as a joke and not a genuine intent to violate laws or trespass.

The case highlights tensions between online satire, immigration enforcement, and celebrity political statements, with Pavlou's deportation serving as a stark outcome of his provocative online stunt tied to Eilish's Grammy remarks.
