The comments came on a podcast hosted by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cowen, with the episode released on Saturday. When Cowen asked Obama about extraterrestrials, the former president responded directly: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.” Obama offered no additional clarification on precisely what he meant by “real,” and no follow-up questions on the topic were posed during the interview.
Instead, Obama used the opportunity to dismiss popular conspiracy theories about the whereabouts of aliens. “They’re not being kept in Area 51, there’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States,” he stated emphatically.
