KL Rahul created history and etched his name in record books during the game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday (May 8). Rahul, who scored 23 off 14 balls, completed 1000 runs for the Delhi-based franchise. He is now the only batter in IPL history to score 1000 runs for three different teams. The right-handed batter has more than 1000 runs for DC, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Rahul joined PBKS in the IPL 2018 mega-auction. He captained them in IPL 2020 and 2021.
Rahul scored 2548 runs for the Punjab-based franchise in four seasons. He scored 1410 runs in the three seasons he played for LSG. Rahul has scored 1007 runs for DC. He has a three-year deal with DC and looks set to play at least one more season for them.

KL Rahul kicked off his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2013. He scored 20 runs in 2 innings in his maiden IPL season. He moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the next two seasons and scored 308 runs for them. Rahul returned to RCB for the next two seasons. He scored 397 runs in IPL 2016. He missed IPL 2017 due to an injury.
Rahul joined PBKS for Rs 11 crore in the IPL 2018 mega-auction and stayed with them till 2021. He won the Orange Cap for piling up 670 runs in IPL 2020. Rahul joined LSG before the IPL 2022 mega-auction for Rs 17 crore and captained them for three seasons. DC bought him in the IPL 2025 mega-auction for Rs 14 crore.
DelhiCapitals have only managed 4 wins in 11 matches and sit in the 8th spot in the points table. They have 8 points at an NRR of -1.154. DC have to win their next three games and then hope that the results of other games go their way to keep their playoff hopes alive.
