In Aurora, Illinois, a peaceful student protest against ICE during a school walkout spiraled into chaos outside city hall when a man unfurled a Trump flag, allegedly prompting an aggressive response from protesters, according to eyewitness accounts and video footage.

The incident unfolded as dozens of students charged at the man, who was holding the Trump flag. He was reportedly hit and kicked multiple times during the altercation, with objects including rocks, water bottles, and shoes hurled at him, escalating the confrontation rapidly.

A reporter on the scene described the scene: “The student protest outside of a world city hall. Turned chaotic quick when a man pulled out of Trump flag and allegedly eg student, so on. Dozens of student change, the man.” The footage captured the intensity of the moment as the crowd surrounded the individual.

The assault continued for several minutes, with the man enduring repeated blows amid the anti-ICE demonstration. Protesters, primarily students from local schools, appeared incensed by the display of the Trump flag during their walkout against Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies.

Volunteers eventually intervened to de-escalate the situation. Among them was “an Easter” and a high school dad who does not support Trump. These bystanders helped the man escape into a nearby Fifth Third Bank branch, shielding him from further harm.

Despite pleas from the volunteers—who urged the man to move away from the crowd—he reportedly did not listen initially. “They didn’t listen up to them,” the reporter noted, highlighting the tension as rescuers worked to extract him safely.

The event underscores the heated emotions surrounding political symbols amid ongoing debates over immigration enforcement, with the anti-ICE walkout drawing students to city hall in Aurora to voice their opposition.
