Voters in the Syosset and Jericho school districts will head to the polls May 19 to decide on school budgets and elect new members to each district’s board of education.
Voters in the Syosset school district will head to the polls May 19 to decide on a proposed $306,874,324 budget, with an additional proposition to authorize the proposed 2026-27 public library budget.
The Syosset public library’s proposed budget is $8,741,925.
The projected tax levy for the district is 2.19%, which remains under the tax cap. The public library’s tax levy is estimated to increase by 1.5%, and also remains under the 4.1% tax levy limit.
According to 2025-26 enrollment data from the New York state Department of Education, the cost per pupil would approximately be $42,824 among the district’s 7,166 students.
Voters will also elect three members of the board of education from the six who are running,: current Trustee Susan Falkove, Rahul K. Nabe, Brian Tvedt, Inna Choi, Corey Witt and Lisa Li.
The vote for the school district’s proposed budget, board of education trustee election and proposed public library budget will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Robbins Lane Elementary School, H. B. Thompson Middle School and at Syosset High School.
The Jericho school district has proposed a $147,944,295 budget for the 2026-27 school year. Voters will head to the polls on May 19 to decide whether to authorize the budget, two additional propositions, elect two members of the Board of Education, as well as vote on the Jericho public library proposed budget.
The proposed district budget includes a projected tax levy increase of 1.84%, which remains under the tax cap. According to 2025-26 data from the state Department of Education, the cost per pupil would be about $47,372 for the district’s 3,123 students.
The first additional proposition seeks voter authorization to use $4,721,701 from the 2022 capital reserve fund for capital improvements including window replacements, ceiling and lighting upgrades, bathroom renovations, paving and security upgrades, as well as locker upgrades across the district.
