In a swift development in the high-profile Lamborghini crash case on VIP Road in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh police have stated there is no need to summon accused Shivam Kumar Mishra for further questioning. The son of tobacco baron KK Mishra was arrested on Thursday morning and granted bail within hours, prompting questions about the pace of the probe.
Investigating officer and officiating in-charge Dinesh Kumar told PTI that all necessary questioning was completed at the time of Mishra's arrest. "Whatever questioning was required was done at the time of his arrest. There is no need to call him again," Kumar said. The case, which initially omitted Shivam's name from the investigation, has seen multiple twists.
Mishra was arrested at 8.50 am on Thursday and produced before a court within approximately 70 minutes, according to an official who spoke on condition of anonymity. He was released on a personal bond of just Rs 20,000 shortly thereafter, raising eyebrows over the rapid sequence of events. When pressed for details, the investigating officer declined to comment.
Police confirmed that Mishra has submitted all required documents related to the Lamborghini sports car, with no further paperwork pending from him. “The investigation is on. Evidence is being collected and a chargesheet will be filed before the court soon,” Kumar asserted.
Shivam Mishra's father, tobacco businessman KK Mishra, provided a detailed account of the incident, claiming a technical issue plagued the luxury car a day prior to the crash. He insisted his son was not driving the vehicle at the time of the accident on VIP Road. Following the crash, Shivam flew to Delhi for medical treatment.
