Vladimir Putinwas forced to deny he faces a coup as he presided over adrastically scaled-back Red Square military parademarking the anniversary of the end of WW2. But his sudden acceptance of a US proposal for an extended ceasefire in the war shows him “enfeebled”, say sources.
Missiles and drones largely - but not completely - stopped flying today on the first ofthree days of truce brokered by Donald Trump. The US president won the agreement of both Putin andVolodymyr Zelenskyfor a three day truce after a two-day Kremlin pause in fighting signally failed. It is the first time Putin has agreed to halt the war with outside intervention, as his invasion push is stymied, but Trump denied Putin had pleaded for the pause which will also involve an exchange of 1,000 POWs on each side. "It is a sign of his growing weakness and the damaging impact of the latest Ukrainian strikes deep insideRussia, and rising hostility from his own people,” said a Moscow source. Putin is suddenly vulnerable, even scared and enfeebled. The dictator has blinked first.”

The Kremlin has acknowledged that Putin’s security has been tightened around today’s Victory Day parade. But it was forced to deny a Western intelligence report that he feared a coup from within his own regime.
It was even claimed that security council secretary and ex-defence minister Sergei Shoigu was behind a plot. Russian officials have dismissed reports of a coup plot as nonsense, reported Reuters.
However, a number of new security measures have been put in place with even his own officials bizarrely ordered not to wear watches in his presence amid a “spy movie fear” they could be used to assassinate him.
Volodymyr Zelensky trolled Putin by issuing a decree to vow that Ukrainian drones and missiles would not attack his parade, enabling it at the eleventh hour to go ahead without security fears.
Meanwhile, a total of 43 Russian drones and an Iskander-M ballistic attackedUkrainebut it was not immediately clear if this had been before or after midnight.
The Russians killed two people in Dnipropetrovsk region, with two more wounded. There were at least 20 separate attacks and private homes were targeted during the night.
