Hong Kong is set to ignite its celebrations for the Year of the Horse with a spectacular array of events beginning February 17, drawing an estimated 1.43 million visitors from mainland China amid the festive Lunar New Year period.
The mainland's holiday spans from February 15 to 23, while Hong Kong's local observance runs from February 17 to 19, creating a vibrant backdrop for citywide festivities that blend tradition with high-energy spectacles.
From the dazzling roar of fireworks exploding over Victoria Harbour to the thunderous hooves at Sha Tin Racecourse, residents and tourists alike will immerse themselves in a packed schedule of Lunar New Year highlights.
Kicking off the major celebrations on the first day of Lunar New Year next Tuesday, the Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade will light up Tsim Sha Tsui with a procession featuring a vibrant mix of local and international performing troupes.
At the heart of the parade are 12 elaborate floats, including a stunning centrepiece of three glittering horses provided by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, symbolizing the spirit of the incoming zodiac year.
