A grand opening for legendary rapperSnoop Dogg’scannabis store in his southern California hometown of Long Beach has been postponed due to security concerns.

Saturday’s grand opening for the 54-year-old rapper’s (born Calvin Broadus Jr.) shop S.W.E.D. (Smoke Weed Every Day) has been postponed due to the overwhelming response the store said it got for the grand opening, per anInstagram post.

“Long Beach showed incredible support for Saturday, more than we anticipated,” the post read for theglobal entertainer’ssecond cannabis store in LA.

“With expected attendance exceeding safe capacity, we’ve decided to postpone to ensure we deliver the experience the community deserves: safely, and in the right way.”

Snoop’s teamsaid the decision followed the fatal shooting on March 1st at theopening of the new Marathon Burgerin Long Beach, whose franchise is tied to late rapper Nipsey Hussle. One person was killed, two other people were injured in the shooting.

The company said it would be working with the City of Long Beach to make sure the event, when it does happen, is better than ever.

“The energy is real and we’re taking the time to match it. A new date will be announced soon. Stay tuned.”

At Saturday’s ribbon cutting, Snoop was supposed to be presented a proclamation from the city and get a certificate, per the report.

An earlier post on social mediafeatured the rapper promoting the Long Beach shoplocated at 2115 E. 10th Street.
