In a disturbing escalation of extortion threats targeting Indian celebrities, Punjabi actress and Bigg Boss 13 contestant Himanshi Khurana has reportedly received a demand for Rs 10 crore via email. This incident follows a spate of similar intimidations against Bollywood stars like Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including a firing at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence and a threat mail to Singh.

Himanshi Khurana, known for her roles in Punjabi films such as Sadda Haq (2013), Leather Life (2015), 2 Bol (2016), and Shava Ni Girdhari Lal (2021), filed a complaint with the Mohali police after receiving the threatening message on her personal email ID. The email reportedly included a voice note demanding the extortion money.

Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at the Sohana police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to extortion and criminal intimidation. Police officials confirmed the details, noting the voice note's alleged origin from a foreign-based gangster.

Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saurav Jindal provided further insights to PTI, stating, "As per the complaint, the email contained a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding Rs 10 crore as extortion money."

While the connection to the Bishnoi gang's Harry Boxer, also known as Hari Chand, remains unestablished, investigators have noted significant similarities between this case and previous threats against high-profile figures in the entertainment industry.

The rising wave of such incidents underscores growing concerns over organized extortion rackets preying on celebrities, prompting heightened vigilance from law enforcement agencies across India.
