An image in the first drop of classified UFO documents released by the Department of Defense on Friday shows a mysterious object captured in a NASA photo taken from the Moon's surface.
The image was captured in 1972 during the Apollo 17 mission to the Moon. "The yellow box contains an enlarged area of the original photo in which three lights are visible above the lunar terrain," the Defense Department noted in its release.
The Pentagon says in an accompanying caption that “there is no consensus about the nature of the anomaly” but that a new, preliminary analysis indicated that it could be a “physical object.” It comes after aPentagon whistleblower releases a 'high-res image of alien mothership' in sign of UFO life.

President DonaldTrump said last week that the Pentagon was preparing to releasesome “very interesting” UFO files uncovered by his administration, generating a mix of buzz and skepticism as he hints at new revelations around questions of alien life.
Trump started stoking interest in the extraterrestrial in February, directing federal agencies to release their records related to extraterrestrial life and UFOs. Since then, he has built suspense with tantalizing updates, teasing an imminent release of documents never before shared by the US government.
“We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t,” Trump said at a White House event celebrating NASA astronauts last week. “I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people.”
"The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves," Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said in a statement as the first batch of classified UFO files was released on Friday.
