New Ground, a Levittown-based organizationdedicated to helping veterans and families break the cycle of homelessness, will host its 30th annual golf tournament and dinner to raise funds supporting veterans and families experiencing homelessness on Long Island while also honoringSteven DiMare, the former Unified Window Systems CEO and philanthropist.

The fundraiser will be held on Monday, May 18, at the Cherry Valley Club in Garden City. The event will bring together supporters, sponsors, and community members for a day of golf, networking, and charitable giving.

Proceeds from the event will go towards New Ground’s housing and support programs for local veterans and families facing housing insecurity.

DiMare, to whom the fundraiser is dedicated, died unexpectedly in 2025 from a stroke at the age of 60.

“He was extremely generous. Just a tremendous man,” Shannon Boyle, New Ground’s executive director, said about DiMare, who co-chaired the fundraiser for several years before his death.

He hadestablished a family-owned and operated business,Unified Window Systems,in 1989, after beginning as a young laborer carrying windows up multiple flights of stairs in New York City, his son said.

Over the years, he advanced from laborer to installer to foreman before eventually founding Unified Window Systems, starting with one showroom in Hempstead Village.

In 2019, with the help of his son, the company obtained a DBA as Unified Home Remodeling to showcase its evolution into a full-service remodeling provider.

Boyle said over 100 people have signed up to participate in the golf event, and more will be in attendance for just the cocktail hour and dinner portion.
