In a fiery Truth Social post on Friday, President Donald Trump demanded that Republicans pass the SAVE America Act to mandate voter ID and proof of citizenship for federal elections, while threatening to unilaterally impose the requirement through an executive order if Congress fails to act.

Trump wrote, “If we can’t get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order.” The post underscores Trump's growing frustration with what he describes as Democratic obstruction on election integrity measures.

The SAVE America Act, aimed at requiring proof of citizenship alongside voter ID in federal elections, has become a flashpoint in Republican efforts to secure voting processes. Trump positioned the legislation as essential, blasting opponents as “horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS.”

“We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTER I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn’t be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations,” Trump declared in the post.

Trump likened the absence of voter ID requirements to other contentious issues, stating, “If it weren’t such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE! No Voter I.D. is even crazier, and more ridiculous, than Men playing in Women’s Sports, Open Borders, or Transgender for Everyone.”

The Gateway Pundit reporter Jordan Conradson highlighted Trump's post, noting its timing amid ongoing debates over election security. Trump's intervention adds pressure on Republican lawmakers to advance the SAVE America Act swiftly.

With Trump signaling an executive order “shortly,” the post signals a potential escalation in the fight over voter verification, should legislative efforts stall.
