The political churn inTamil Naduappears to be deepening as AIADMK leaders internally debate their future within the NDA after actor-politician Vijay's TVK swept the polls. Sources indicate that sections within the AIADMK believe the party may have to reconsider its alliance with the BJP-led NDA if a sizeable number of AIADMK MLAs move towards supporting Vijay to form the next government in the state.
According to sources, the AIADMK top leadership is also weighing broader political realignments, including the possibility of opening channels with long-time rival DMK, a scenario that would have appeared unthinkable in Tamil Nadu politics until recently.
While no official decision has been announced, the back-channel talks have intensified.

Vijay's TVK, with 108 seats, is the single largest party but still not close to the majority mark of 118. The Congress, with its five seats, has extended its support officially to the TVK, taking the party's Assembly tally up to 113. The actor-politician has attempted to stake his claim to form the next government, meeting the Tamil Nadu governor twice, only to be told to first get the requisite number of MLAs, which TVK is now finding tough to negotiate.
Amid the political tussle, the report of a possible DMK-AIADMK alliance perhaps tested Vijay's patience a bit too much, as soon there were claims in the political circles of the Dravidian state that TVK may go for a mass resignation of all its MLAs in that scenario.
Vijay has been trying to negotiate alliances with smaller parties, but so far there has been no breakthrough. If TVK actually fails to secure the majority figure and if they go for a mass resignation, the consequences could be massive - politically, legally and constitutionally.
