New Delhi:The fast-changing political developments in Tamil Nadu are now making waves in Lutyens’ Delhi, with old allies drifting apart and new political equations rapidly taking shape. Amid the ongoingTamil Nadu governmentformation crisis, Akhilesh Yadav has now openly stood by “friend” MK Stalin and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a move widely being seen as a subtle but sharp message to the Congress.
The Congress’s decision to back Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections has triggered friction within the opposition camp. The DMK has accused the Congress of “backstabbing” a trusted ally, while several regional parties have begun reassessing their political equations.

Without directly naming the Congress, Akhilesh Yadav posted a message in Hindi that quickly drew political attention.
"We are not the ones who abandon each other in times of difficulty," Akhilesh's post in Hindi said.
The Samajwadi Party chief also shared a picture featuring West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin, making the political messaging hard to miss. Though Congress was not mentioned explicitly, the timing and context left little doubt about whom the remarks were aimed at.
The Congress has extended support to TVK, the newly formed party that stunned Tamil Nadu politics by winning 108 seats in its electoral debut but still falling short of the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly.
With Congress’s five MLAs backing TVK, the alliance tally currently stands at 112, still six short of the required 118 seats needed to form the government.
TVK is now attempting to secure support from smaller allies of the DMK-led bloc, including the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai strongly criticised the Congress for abandoning an old ally, arguing that the Congress’s five Assembly seats were possible only because of Stalin’s leadership and the DMK alliance.
