A shocking attempted murder case came to light nearBengaluruafter a man allegedly tried to slit his wife’s throat in the middle of a busy road before local residents intervened and rescued her. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at Dasanapura near Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the accused, identified as Sanjay, who is originally from Bihar, arrived on a motorcycle wearing a helmet and stopped his wife Sonali while she was stepping out of her house, according to NDTV report.

Witnesses said Sanjay suddenly dragged Sonali onto the road and allegedly held a knife to her throat in an attempt to kill her in public. The incident created panic in the area as passersby realised the seriousness of the attack.

Before he could harm her further, a group of local men rushed to the spot, overpowered Sanjay and rescued the woman. During the commotion, Sonali managed to escape and move away from the area safely.

Police said preliminary investigation showed that the couple had been facing marital problems for several months. Both Sanjay and Sonali were reportedly in their second marriage and had moved to Bengaluru to start a new life together.

However, frequent arguments had allegedly taken place between them in recent months, reportedly linked to Sanjay’s alcohol addiction.

Sources said Sonali had recently refused to continue living with him after repeated disputes, which allegedly angered Sanjay and led to the attack attempt.

Police are investigating the case further.
