For too long, being a military contractor was a licence to print money, regardless of whether the results they promised were ever delivered.

As a result, military readiness suffered despite massive financial investments, partly because money invested leaked out of its intended purposes and filled to pockets of sketchy businessmen who routinely failed to deliver on their promises with respect to price, timeline, and cost.

They made out like bandits while taxpayers — and our men and women in uniform — got left holding the bag.

The procurement process has always been a bloodbath for the taxpayers.
