Have you ever seen a toddler snatch another kid’s toy only to go nuclear when mom and dad come along and return it? Then you know what’s coming with Obama’s response to the SCOTUS redistricting ruling.
As ClashDaily readers already know, SCOTUS handed down a decision that racial discrimination is still illegal in America, even when that discrimination is intended to favor a minority group. As a consequence, many of the electoral maps in states that skew HEAVILY for the blue team have a problem. Many of them were drawn explicitly with the intention of exploiting racial demographics for political gain, using claims of racial representation to justify those maps.
As of right now — meaning mid-election cycle — any such maps are by their very nature, unconstitutional.
Those steady gains made year after year in blue states as gerrymandering got increasingly aggressive. They rigged the game. Red voters were entitled to less and less representation in states that had more and more taxation. (Let the reader understand.)
Obama’s self-described ‘wing man’ Eric Holder went on to be chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC). It’s a group designed to ‘fight gerrymandered maps’ and Obama was connected to the group as well. Unfortunately, his weaponization of the Voter Rights Act to force Democrat-friendly changes to red state maps on the strength of racial arguments has just backfired.
Any map drawn on those rationales have now beenstruck downas objectively unconstitutional. There is now a rush to respond on short notice to the SCOTUS ruling, made even more urgent by theirrulingin Louisiana that changes must go into immediate effect. Trump’s DOJ will be fighting in court for states whose maps are written on racial imperatives to be struck down and redrawn.
Obama’s toys have been taken away, and he’snothappy.
