Prince Yadav created history as he continued his dream season in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) during Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday (May 8). After LSG posted a massive score of 209 on the board in 19 overs (and gave RCB a target of 213 as per the D/L method), Prince gave the hosts a dream start by dismissing cricketing legend Virat Kohli for a duck.

Yadav had a fine day as he later returned to break a 95-run partnership between Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar by dismissing the former. He also got the wicket of Jitesh Sharma for one run in the same over. The 24-year-old ended his spell with figures of 3-33 in four overs. He proved to be the difference maker for the Rishabh Pant-led side as they ended a six-match losing run with a nine-run victory.

Prince Yadav Achieves First In Nine Years Over Virat Kohli

Today's dismissal marked only the 11th time in his IPL career that Kohli was dismissed for a duck in 269 innings that he played in the league over the last 18 years. In fact, this is just the sixth time that this has happened in the second innings of a match.

The last instance of Kohli being dismissed for a duck was 3,301 days ago (23rd April 2017) when RCB played Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens. Nathan Coulter-Nile dismissed the Indian cricket legend for a golden duck in that fixture. The game is remembered as the Bengaluru-based franchise was dismissed for 49 runs in what remains the lowest total in IPL history.

Virat Kohli's Ducks In IPL Run Chases

Meanwhile, Prince is only the second bowler to dismiss Kohli for a duck with a bowled dismissal in IPL history. The only other player to do it was Dhawal Kulkarni in 2016 while playing for Gujarat Lions.

After the game, Prince revealed that he followed advice Virat gave him after the reverse fixture, which helped him with the dismissal.

"After the last match I was talking to Virat bhaiya and he only told me - as long as it's moving around off a length, stick to that length (talking about the Kohli wicket)," said Prince in a post-match chat with the broadcaster.
