In reports that seem hard to believe from Spain ahead of the El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Sunday (May 11), Fede Valverde had to be rushed to the hospital after a fight with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni at the club's famous training ground in Valdebebas on Thursday (May 8). The incident comes amid a poor season for the Las Blancos, where they are likely to finish without a trophy for the second year in a row.
As per several reports, an altercation took place between the two players on Wednesday (May 7) and continued for a second straight day. The Athletic reported that Valverde put a strong tackle on Tchouameni in training. Things got worse when the players returned to the dressing room as the French player confronted the Uruguayan.
It is further reported that Valverde fell and his head hit a table inside the changing room. This led to him being taken to the hospital for further tests.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the club's president, Florentino Perez, is working towards taking action on both players. Several Spanish media reports have claimed that both players will be punished, but it remains to be seen how severe the sanction is. Some local reports have also claimed that the situation between the two players has been tense since Xabi Alonso was sacked. ESPN reported that several players were unhappy with Valverde, Vinicius Jr., and Jude Bellingham for their behavior towards the Spanish manager.
The incident comes on the back of several reports of tensions rising in the Madrid camp over the last few weeks.
The club will face archrival Barcelona on Sunday at Nou Camp. If they lost the game, the Catalans would be confirmed as the La Liga champions. Currently, Madrid are 11 points behind the reigning champions in the table.
The domestic league was the last chance for a trophy for the Los Blancos. They were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Bayern Munich. Earlier, Barcelona beat them in the Spanish Super Cup final while second division team Albacete defeated them in the Round of 16 of the Copa Del Rey.
