Nassau County Legislator Samantha A. Goetz, in partnership with County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman, Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino, and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency, will host a free Veterans Benefits and Information Seminar for veterans and their families.
The event is scheduled for Monday, May 11, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Syosset Woodbury Park Community Center, 7800 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury. The seminar will provide attendees with information on a range of benefits and services available to veterans.
“Long Island is home to one of the largest veteran populations in the country so I am pleased to be co-hosting this event that will provide important information that our veterans and their families are eligible to receive,” Legislator Goetz said. “Our Veterans Service Agency does a great job helping the men and women who proudly served get the benefits they deserve so I thank them for all of their efforts.”
Topics will include briefings on VA disability compensation, aid and attendance benefits, survivor and dependent compensation, veterans’ burial benefits and other available resources. Veteran counselors will also be on site to answer questions and assist with scheduling follow-up appointments.
“Our veterans are true American heroes, and it is our responsibility to ensure they and their families receive every benefit they have earned through their service and sacrifice,” Supervisor Saladino said. “By hosting this seminar, we’re making it easier for veterans to access the resources, support, and information they deserve.”
Reservations are recommended and may be made by contacting the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency at (516) 572-6565.
