One of the accused, Nida Aijaz Khan, in the TCS Nashik harassment and conversion case, has been arrested by the Nashik Police from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the officials said. After the case was registered, the Nashik police had formed special teams to search for Nida Khan’s location. According to her family members, she was not in contact with anyone.

Further, her husband was interrogated by the Nashik police for hours. Later, after several days of search operation, her location was traced from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Last month, a court in Nashik heard arguments on the anticipatory bail plea of Nida Aijaz Khan. During the hearing, the prosecution said the case is at a “very preliminary stage” and involves serious allegations. Government lawyer Ajay Mishra told the court that the hearing was focused only on whether custodial interrogation of the accused is needed.

Nida Khan is accused of targeting employees in a WhatsApp group, pressuring them to pray and eat non-vegetarian food. According to the FIR, Khan allegedly advised women employees to dress and behave in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Some victims have also alleged that they were coerced or pressured into adopting religious practices, including praying, changing dietary habits, and adopting religious symbols.

Besides Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions for sexual harassment and defamation, Khan has also been booked under relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The defence, however, contended that there were no allegations involving caste-based slurs or insults and hence, the SC/ST Act was not applicable.

TCS has clarified that it has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form for a long time, and the employees allegedly involved in sexual harassment at the Nashik office have been suspended.
