Suryakumar Yadav and his wife, Devisha Shetty, have welcomed a baby girl; the India T20I captain announced on Thursday (May 7). Suryakumar took to X to make the mega announcement. "With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl- we welcome our baby girl," he wrote. Suryakumar and Devisha tied the knot in July 2016. Devisha is a regular visitor to MI's matches and has always been spotted in the stands. In March this year, Suryakumar captained India to a title win in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Now, the joy has doubled due to the birth of the baby girl.
"She (Devisha) has been a big influence behind the scenes in telling me honest things. If it is your partner, she will always be honest because all she would want is your growth because if you want to grow together, conversations have to be honest. At times, it has been brutal too, but then it has been good. If I am where I am today, those conversations have gone a long way," Suryakumar had told PTI after the T20 WC win.
Suryakumar is busy with hisIPLcommitments for Mumbai Indians (MI). He hasn't travelled to Raipur for the next game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), scheduled to be played on May 10. It remains to be seen whether Suryakumar is available for that fixture.
He captained the five-time IPL Champions Hardik Pandya's absence in the game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pandya missed the game due to a back spasm. Suryakumar isn't officially part of the leadership group as MI have never announced their vice-captain.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is set to join MI in Raipur and he will lead the team against RCB. He has missed two games in the season so far. With only 3 wins in 10 matches, MI are reeling in the ninth spot in the IPL 2026 points table. They have 6 points at an NRR of -0.649.
MI have bleak chances of making it to the playoffs even if they win their next four games. Lucknow Super Giants are reeling in the last spot. They have 2 wins in 9 matches.
