Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged suicide note from his failed 2019 jail attempt has been made public following a New York court order issued in response to a petition by The New York Times. The handwritten note, described as barely legible, was reportedly written after Epstein attempted to hang himself in his Manhattan jail cell in July 2019, shortly after his arrest on sex trafficking charges.
Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged suicide note from his failed 2019 attempt.
According to the released document, Epstein appeared to reference investigators and the criminal case against him. The note read: “They investigated for month — found nothing!!!”
Another portion of the note appeared to say: “So 16 year old charge results!”
The note also included several emotional and cryptic statements, including: “It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye.”
Epstein further wrote: “Time to say goodbye.” He then added, “Watcha want me to do — burst out crying!!”
The final line of the note reportedly read: “NO FUN — not worth it!!”
The document surfaced years after questions surrounded Epstein’s first reported suicide attempt in jail. Epstein survived the July 2019 incident and later blamed his cellmate, former police officer and convicted quadruple murderer Nicholas Tartaglione, claiming he had been attacked.
Tartaglione later turned over the note to his attorneys, arguing it supported his claim that he did not try to kill Epstein. According to reports, the note was later verified as having been written by Epstein.
Epstein ultimately died in August 2019, one month after the alleged note was written. Authorities ruled his death a suicide after he was found unresponsive in his jail cell.
