Patchogue-Medford Library will host its first ever “Pop Con: A Free Celebration of Fandom and Creativity”
The free event is a Comic-Con-style experience celebrating pop culture, creativity, and community.
Pop Con will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the library’s Main Branch in Patchogue, with a rain date scheduled for June 6.
“Pop Con invites attendees to ‘embrace your inner nerd’ and explore a vibrant world of fandoms, including comics, anime, gaming, cosplay, and more. The event has been designed primarily for adults but open to all, the event brings the excitement of a large-scale convention into a welcoming, local library setting,” said Michele Cayea, Head of Community Engagement at the Pat-Med Library and co-chair for Pop Con.

Featured guests include accomplished voice actors and cosplay professionals, providing opportunities for fans to learn from and engage with industry talent throughout the day.
Visitors can also explore unique displays of pop culture memorabilia, participate in a library-wide Pokémon-themed stamp rally for prizes, and connect with fellow fans in an inclusive, community-driven environment.
Food and drink will be at the event including:Island Empandas, Roxy’s Ice Cream Truck, and Toast Coffee + Kitchen will have a station set-up in Artist Alley.
“Pop Con is about bringing people together through the stories and characters they love,” said Amber Mercado, Library Assistant in Promotions/Community Engagement and co-chair for Pop Con. “We’re excited to offer a fun, free experience that celebrates creativity and fandom right here in our community.”
