Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) created history and emulated the Indian Cricket Team's world record while going past Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an elite list. The Pat Cummins-led team achieved the feat during their 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday (May 6).
After Shreyas won the toss and chose to bowl first, SRH came out to bat first and took the stage by storm. The 2016 champions posted a huge total of 235 on the board with half-centuries from Heinrich Klaasen (69 off 43) and Ishan Kishan (55 off 32). Abhishek Sharma (35 off 13) and Travis Head (38 of 19) gave them a quick start earlier, while Nitish Kumar Reddy (29 of 13) helped them get a strong finish.
This marks the eight instance of SRH scoring a total above 200 against PBKS. Among IPL teams, the feat has only been achieved by the Mumbai Indians (vs Delhi Capitals). Meanwhile, no team in world cricket across T20s has done it more. India (vs. New Zealand and South Africa) is the only team to do it twice.
The Men in Orange are also the only team with seven or more instances of scoring over 200 runs against one opponent in the league's history. No team has even done so twice.

SRH might have to wait till next season to register another 200+ total against PBKS and own the record outright, as both teams have played each other twice in the league stage. However, there remains a chance of them meeting in the playoffs, as both sides are favourites to seal a spot in the top four.
