Bystanders nabbed a fleeing man whoseaggressive driving allegedly caused a fatal crashon Los Angeles’ 10 Freeway on Monday.
The suspect is said to have weaved through traffic, crossing four lanes until he clipped the back of a blue Toyota Prius, witnesses said.
The collision was enough to make the Prius collide with the center median along with two other vehicles and erupt in a massive fireball.
The LAFD responded at 7:16 p.m. and ruled the Prius driver, who had been in thecar as it went up in flames, deceased upon arrival.
Witnessesdescribed the fire to KTLAas “giant” and “very, very hot.” A second driver was ruled to be in critical condition and needed to be hospitalized.
But theaggressive third driverallegedly took off as witnesses desperately tried to save the Prius driver by smashing out her window with a golf club.

The construction worker trying to save the driver had to stop his attempted heroics when he noticed the fleeing man.
He is believed to have sprinted to stop him, tackling him and holding him there until California Highway Police units arrived.
“I did tackle him and I got him on the ground and I just asked him, ‘Hey, man, sit right here,’” construction worker Jacob DeegantoldKTLA. “He kept trying to run off.”
